We knew we’d need a place
to work while we build the house so we decided to build a small shed. It’ll be a handy spot to keep the garden
tools when the house is done.
Floor joists
for the shed.
Ceiling joists
up and ready to start the roof framing.
Brian on the
wall. Brian and Fiona really got this
shed off dead center and moving. Dan’s
generator provided power for the tools.
Gable walls and
roof trusses in place.
Shed roof
sheathed.
Scaffolding in
place so we can continue working on the roof.
Interior of
shed.
Insulating foam
board on the roof.
Here’s an
overall view of the site in mid-July, just before the forms were set for the
house foundation.
Camping is
easier when the tent is in a tent.
Roofing felt
and purlins on north side of shed roof.
The seams between foam boards are taped, then covered with felt. A metal roof will be attached to the
purlins. If any water gets behind the
metal it will be shed by the felt. The
purlins will also provide an air space between the metal roofing and the roof
which should keep it a little cooler.
Finally got the door into the shed on
August 1st. Soon we’ll use it
as construction headquarters.
View of the shed from
the northwest on August 28. The metal
roof is going on slowly as time allows.
